Ida Minerva Tarbell was a talented American teacher, author, and journalist. She was known as a leading mickraker of the progressive era. She wrote several biographies and many magazines. One of her best known work was on John D.Rockerfeller and his oil interests. Her book was called "The History of the Standard Oil Company" which was published in 1904. The result of her book led to federal action and the breakup of the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey.
Her father was an oilman and he struggled to compete in the field that was under control by John D.Rockerfeller and his Standard Oil Company. Rockerfeller wanted to take control over the oil industry, he wanted the company all to himself, which led to the destruction of many oil production facilities. Because of this Ida began to hate the wealthy industries. However years later, Tarbell published her most well-known book expressing her feelings on the oil company. “The History of the Standard Oil Company" helped bring about the fall of the powerful company.
She was a strong woman who fought against her antogonist. She digested Rockerfeller's complicated business and expressed herself through her book. She succeeded in crushing the business and gaining many readers that made her works popular.
