Imperialism

This picture shows President William Mckinley was contemplating imperial conquest while ignoring racial problems. He was accused of imperialism when he declared that Puerto Rico and the Phillippines should not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. He created demands for the intervention of the United States. It was basically a peace treaty that declared that the United States had control over Puerto Rico and the Phillipines. He had the desire to acquire ownership on these two areas in which he would be able to could build a stronger force to increase trade. He wanted to make America a greater nation. However in order to seize the countries, the Americans fought against Spain and succeeded in taken over Spains possessions. The ending of the Spanish war, and Americans winning gave them brought about a great expansion of the navy. The increase of merchandise and navy forces were two of the main advantages from the war, it was exactly what the President William Mickinley went for.
